Valentine’s Day has come to be associated with so many icons, but perhaps its most enduring symbol is the heart.

The heart was considered to be the source of all human emotions and, as such, occupied a place of honour in all Valentine’s Day celebrations. Since science had not yet revealed the exact shape of this organ, people took to drawing the heart-shape that is commonly used to express love.

The custom stayed and the heart has now become the trademark symbol of love all over the world, irrespective of language or custom.
